Being part of our line inspired by folklore and mythology, the Kumo-onna earweights are a testament to our love of Japanese tradition and storytelling. Roughly translating to "spider woman", this yokai also goes by the name "the binding bride" or "Jorogumo", a demon spider disguising itself as a woman of enchanting beauty to catch and feed on men by playing on their baser instincts.

Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, these ear weights feature an intricately designed braid of hair, serving as both a symbol of grace and a connector for the jewelry to hang from, to avoid turning this delicate piece of jewelry into another charm but to offer you a wearable piece of art with a creative twist in functionality.

Queen of the Ashes is a jewelry brand founded in 2019. The brand focuses on ear weights and draws inspiration from punk aesthetics, a style that was difficult to find in the jewelry market. Motivated by their significant other, the founder decided to bring this unique style into the piercing industry.

Starting just before the COVID-19 pandemic, the brand faced challenges with growing its customer base due to global slowdowns. However, this period allowed the founder to refine and perfect their designs. Being based in Germany added complications, especially as local studios tend to invest more in gold, making it harder for smaller, niche brands to gain traction.

Despite these challenges, Queen of the Ashes found more success in the U.S. market, with their ear weights being particularly popular. The brand embraces exclusivity by offering limited-run designs, enhancing the collectability of their pieces. While maintaining accessible prices, they keep collections small and often sell out of certain designs, adding to their allure.
